John Krasinski Visits Brown University

Monday, April 30th, 2007

bk2a7a35.jpgJohn Krasinski made an appearance recently at Brown University. Krasinski attended Brown University and is no stranger to the campus or their stage. According to The Brown Daily Herald

As a Brown student, he[Krasinski] often performed in List as a member of the sketch comedy group Out of Bounds. Krasinski told The Herald he remembered feeling “terrified” before performing his first and favorite Out of Bounds sketch, called “Titani,” which was about a young boy who loved to reenact the sinking of the Titanic.

The crowd at Brown gathered for a screening of “Business School” and afterward Krasinski stayed to chat and answer questions from the students.

One student asked what Krasinski remembered from his time at Brown. Krasinski recalled living in Wayland House and making friends with the Sharpe Refectory staff. Theater performances often prevented him from experiencing a full Spring Weekend, but Krasinski said he always enjoyed Dave Binder’s concert.

Here’s a brief video of Krasinski’s Q&A session with the students.

Episode Recap for New Office Episode “Product Recall”

Friday, April 27th, 2007

If you saw my spoiler post a while back where a clip of this episode was shown, you know that this episode started out with what I would consider one the funnier things Jim has ever done to Dwight. Here’s that clip again…

Run opening credits.

The first thing we see after we come back from the intro is everyone on the phone profusely apologizing for something. We later learn from Michael that a disgruntled employee has put an obscene watermark on a large quantity of paper that Dundler Mifflin just shipped out. Michael has an emergency meeting where he initiates a Cry-Man Squaw.
Michael: “Cry-Man Squaw, F and C, double time.”
Dwight: “Cry-Man Squaw?”
Michael: “Crisis Management Squad.”
Ryan: “F and C, double time?”
Michael: “Front and center, twice as fast as you would normally go.”
180px_Creedbratton.pngMichael: “We have a lot of angry customers out there. This puts us at Threat Level Midnight.”
Michael just shines so bright in a crisis, don’t you think?
We also learn that Creed is primarily repsonsible for the huge mess up.
Creed: “Every week, I’m supposed to take four hours and do a quality spot-check at the paper mill. And of course the one year I blow it off, this happens.”
Now that customers are upset, Kelly has been put in charge of training the accountants on customer service tactics. Her training session goes as follows and I have to admit that it was one of funnier exchanges in the episode.
Kelly: “Look, I know the reason that you guys became accountants is ’cause you’re not good at interacting with people. But guess what? From now on, you guys are no longer losers. So gives yourselves a round of applause.”
Oscar: “I wonder how many phone calls you’re missing while you’re teaching us to answer calls.
Kelly: I know, right? Probably a lot.”
Angela: “Can you just tell us what we need to do so we can go?”
Kelly: “Okay, Angela. I love your enthusiasm! All you need to know how to do is pick up the phone and say, “Customer Service, this is Kelly,â€? except don’t say Kelly. Say your own name. Or if you’re bored, you can just make up a name. Like one time, I said I was Bridget Jones, (British accent) and I talked like this for the whole conversation.”
Kevin: “Oooh, can I be … (awkward accent) Australian, mate?”
Kelly: “Absolutely!”
Kevin: “‘ello … mate.”
Kelly: “I like ice cream. I need a boyfriend.”
Kevin: “I like ice cream, too, mate. Alli-ga-tors, and dingo babies.”

Meanwhile, Michael has the great idea to hold a press conference and also to send Andy and Jim to a high school where the paper was used to print up prom invitations.
Andy (cockney accent): “William Doolittle at your service. AKA, Will Do.”
Jim: “Yeah, I’m definitely going to go alone.”
Michael: “No, no, I need two men on this. That’s what she said. No time! But she did. NO TIME!”
Cool as a cucumber that Michael.

The_Office_S3x21_Product_Recall-01_1.jpgSo we have Andy and Jim headed to the high school. Andy insists on singing and saying “Beer me” whenever he wants anything whether it be a piece of gum or a cd.
Jim: “Lord, beer me strength.”
They arrive at the high school and Andy makes the unnerving discovery that his girlfriend is still in high school.
Andy: “Why is my girlfriend here?”
Andy: “I had no idea.”
Jim: “Well … that’s not going to hold up in court.”
Andy: “We didn’t do anything illegal. Except knock over a mailbox with her friends.”

Meanwhile, back at the office, Michael has gathered one, yes one, reporter from the Scranton Times and one very dissatisfied customer. The plan is that Michael will control the press on this issue and not the other way around.
Michael: “Here’s the thing. When a company screws up, best thing to do is to call a press conference. Alert the media, and then you control the story. Wait for them to find out, and the story controls you. That’s what happened to O.J.”
He plans to publicly apologize for the incident and then present the customer with a novelty check for 6 months of free paper or 25 reams, whichever comes first. The customer is not satisfied, however, and wishes Michael to resign. Michael gets rather upset at this and the customer leaves in a fury. His next plan….to make an apology video.
Pam: “Michael likes me to run the camera when he makes his apology videos. He says he needs a woman’s touch.”
The video proceeds…
Michael: “If I could leave you with one thought, remember, it wasn’t me. They are trying to make me an escape goat. If I am fired, I swear to god, that every single piece of copier paper in this town is going to have the F-word on it. The F-word. You have one day.”
Pam: “One day for what?”
Michael: “That’s — they always give an ultimatum.”
Pam: “That was your best apology video ever.”

Back at the high school, Andy is too distraught over his underage girlfriend to be of much use in smoothing things over with the principal. Jim and Andy head back to the office heads hung low. Jim decides to cheer Andy up by singing, and as Andy lets the music into his heart, the two sing a duet of “In The Jungle”(I think that’s the name of the song. They sang it on Lion King.)

We end the episode with Dwight pulling his own prank on Jim. Dwight swaggers into the office, putting on his best Jim performance. It was rather good.
Dwight: “Pam.”
Pam: “Hey Dwight. You look really nice today.”
Dwight (scoffing): “I look like an idiot. Hey, Karen.”
Karen: “Hey, Dwight. Lookin’ sharp!”
Dwight: “Yeah, that’s ’cause I’m your boyfriend, Jim Halpert.”
Jim: “Look at that.”
Dwight: “I’m Jim Halpert.”
Jim: “Spot on.”
Dwight: “Bleah bleah, a little comment.”

Jenna Fischer and Rashida Jones in People’s Most Beautiful Issue

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Thanks to OfficeTally.com for the tip.

It looks like two of our Office girls have made it into People’s Most Beautiful People Issue.
If you go to this first link, you’ll find a video of Jenna Fischer as she talks about what makes her feel beautiful. It also shows her as she is getting her picture taken for People Magazine.
Check that out here.

Here is the picture of Rashida Jones. She is realy gorgeous. On the topic of beauty, she says, “I tend to leave the house without makeup all the time. I’m kind of lazy that way. Smiling is definitely one of the best beauty remedies. If you have a good sense of humor and a good approach to life, that’s beautiful.” Well said. I wish going without makeup worked for every woman. Ah well.

Which Office Character Are You?

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

I thought this would be a fun activity for everyone. Below are several links to quizzes that will tell you which Office character you are. Now, not all of them are super good quizzes, but when you get to the character profiles, they are quite fun. Thanks to LifeintheOffice.com for the links.
22343.jpg
The first one is located at Quiz Farm. It’s very detailed, but you can obviously tell how to answer if you want to be like a specific character. Check that one out.

If you are familiar with the BBC version of The Office, you might be interested in this quiz. I didn’t take this one because I’ve only seen a select few clips of the show.

This next one is very short, but it was fun anyway. Go here to take that quiz.

This next one is short, but I think it has some of the best questions. Go here for the OKCupid quiz.

Here are two short ones that provide for a lot of entertainment in the results area. Go here and here.

This next one at Entrepreneur.com is cool because you get a percentage at the end, meaning that it show if you were a good mix of characters or more like one than another.

Well that’s it. If you take any one of this quizzes, comment and let us know who you are most like on The Office.

Some Office News and Art

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Alright. I found some interesting Office news and decided to put it all in one post. That’s right. One post.
24614335.jpg
First up, Ed Helms seems to be following in the footsteps of Steve Carell. As we all know, Steve Carell first won our hearts as a correspondent on the Daily Show and quickly became one of the biggest comedians today in movies like Bruce Almighty and 40 Year Old Virgin and now heads up an all-star cast on The Office. Ed Helms, who was also on The Daily Show and who also is now on The Office, will be starring in his own comedy film titled A Whole New Hugh.

The comedy focuses on three guys who attempt to raise their friend’s confidence level by making him seem to be a success. Helms is also co-writing “Hugh” along with Jake Fleisher and Ian Berger.

Judd Apatow will be producing this flick and coincidently he also helped raise Steve Carell to stardom. The film will be released sometime in 2008.

Next up…
Thanks to OfficeTally.com for the images.
There are some very fine artists these days. Two of these fine artists have been inspired by our favorite show The Office. This first one comes to us from Amanda.
145804196_L.jpg

And the second comes to us from Cammi.

Now that’s talent!

Now lastly…
56329152_c.gifDid you ever play that Mad Libs game when you were a kid? You know the one where they have a story set up for you but you have to fill in the blanks using different adjectives, nouns, adverbs and the like? Well, you can now enjoy Mad Libs Office style. That’s right, for just $3.99, you can once again enjoy the English language and all of its nuances in the style of The Office. Go here to pre-order.

Some Possible Office Spoilers and New Pics

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

I’m not sure how spoilerly this will all be, but I came across an article at GMMR that had some fan-taken pictures of Rashida Jones and John Krasinski exiting a NY subway. At first one would just think a celebrity siting, but Paul Liberstein was also there and in one of the photos you can see a small camera crew. Hmmm….
Here is what the person taking the pictures observed about the situation.
467792983_87766281de.jpg

“…they did a couple of different ‘takes’. The first time I saw them they were being filmed walking out of the subway station. After they did that a couple of times, I thought they were done as Rashida and John both got into a large van. The rest of the ‘crew’ was still outside talking amongst themselves so I jokingly asked one of the assistants if Rainn was around and he said ‘no’.

The next shot they took was of the pair at a hotdog stand, then as they walked down 8th towards St. Mark’s Place. I didn’t get any pics when they were walking unfortunately.

The whole time their acting felt very natural - Rashida would be tugging on John’s sleeve, there was this one time where they were about to cross the street and she held John back because he didn’t see a car was approaching. Overall, if you didn’t know they were filming you’d think they were an actual couple. As for the crew there was only the one cameraman, couple of assistants and Paul of course. “

467793013_05f2fa47df.jpgHere are some predication/observations about this weird NY siting from GMMR.

THEORY #1: We know that “Karen and “Jim head to NYC for interviews with corporate during the season finale. Could they be doing some on location shots that they weren’t able to do during the regular season? (This is what I’m leaning towards).
THEORY #3: They are filming some footage for The Office DVD extras. I don’t really buy this one, but see observations A & B - John looks REALLY good - would they let Jim look this good?

It is interesting. To read all of the speculative comments about this encounter please visit GMMR.

The Office Spoilers for “Beach Games” and the Season Finale “The Job!”

Friday, April 20th, 2007

These spoilers are skimpy but they are spoilers indeed. They come from our devoted friends at OfficeTally.com.
0532414283_Untitled_1.jpg

Synopsis for ‘Beach Games’ (May 10):

LIFE’S A BEACH — Michael is being considered for a position in corporate and has to recommend his replacement, but while the group expects a fun outing at Lake Scranton, Michael has planned a day of “Survivor-like competitions to find his successor. Meanwhile, Pam is not asked to join in any of the activities and is forced to watch Jim and Karen have fun together.

Why is everyone being so rude to Pam? This episode is the last one before the finale and they’re having Pam sit out? I don’t get it.

Synopsis for ‘The Job’ (May 17):

THE FINAL REVIEW IS ONE-HOUR SEASON FINALE — In a special one-hour finale, the office is still buzzing from the events of their day at the beach. A job opening in Corporate pits coworker against coworker as Michael, Jim and Karen all head to New York for final interviews. In Scranton, Dwight’s new regime institutes sweeping reforms, Pam plays an interesting role and Jan comes in with exciting news.

This one is a bit vague and gives pretty much the same info as the “Beach Games” spoiler, but it’s something. Doesn’t look like a lot of Jam action for all of those fans out there, but then again, The Office has surprised us in the past. To add to the last spoiler, Karen is rumored to be the one who gets the job, which would coincide with the fact that she is NOT supposed to be a regular character next season.

We also have for your viewing pleasure, some preview clips of next week’s episode “Product Recall.” Go here and here.

This clip has Jim acting like Dwight.

Order Your Very Own Dundler Mifflin Bath Robe and More Deleted Scenes from “Safety Training”

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

The NBC Store has made it official; you can now fall deeper into your possibly unhealthy attachment to The Office by dawning your very own $65 Egyptian-cotton terry bath robe.
My goodness, I’m salivating.

00020003_485092.jpg

Lounging around the house doesn’t get better in the Dunder Mifflin terry robe. This robe is the exact same one as worn by Michael and Toby in the Office’s holiday episode. It features the Dunder Mifflin Inc logo embroidered on the chest, a removable waist strap, and hand warmer pockets on both sides. Measures approximately 48 inches from collar to hem, one size fits most.

The robe was originally featured in the episode “Benihana Christmas” and apparently it is supposed to be an exact replica of that robe. You can pre-order the robe now if you’d like, it will ship by June 1st. To order yours go to the NBC Universal Store.

In some other random news…

Ed Helms…

My mom is a health nut, so as a kid, I ate nothing but berries and twigs. Naturally, when I left home I rebelled—it was all Cap’n Crunch, all the time. I’m 33 now, and my body is starting its own rebellion.

And lastly, here are two more deleted scenes from our last episode “Safety Training.”

Jenna Fischer Speaks with Women’s Magazine

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Ran across an article the other day where Jenna Fischer opened up about her life before The Office, her domestic talents, her husband and her family.
Here are a few blurbs. To read the entire article, please visit the following blue letters.

0000036099_20061130155016.jpg

What do you miss most about your preOffice days?
I loved the domesticity of my life as a struggling actor. When I wasn’t going to auditions, I could do things like cook dishes from scratch and take them to parties or be really thoughtful about birthdays and anniversaries. Now I still have my girlfriends’ Christmas presents in the backseat of my car.

How has your husband dealt with all this change?
He’s somewhat of a workaholic, and I think in some sense he likes it. When I did have 2 months off, I was like, “We need to get covers for our patio furniture for this winter,” and he’d be like, “Oh jeez I like it when you’re working.”

You’re lucky that you look so young.
I think it’s just my DNA. My mom always looked really young. I like it now, but in college I got carded to go to R-rated movies. I remember I went up and used my college ID to get the student discount. And I’m like, “One ticket to the movie.” And the person says, “Can I see some ID?” And I was like, “I’m in college. I’m not a child prodigy. I’m over 17. This is my college ID!” I spent my whole adolescence, when you just want to be accepted, looking much younger than everyone else.

Were your parents strict?
Yes. My parents wouldn’t let me go to the mall. That was the one big thing in St. Louis, Missouri. You would go to the mall with your girlfriends.

You’re on the set 12 hours a day. Who are you closest to in the cast?
Angela Kinsey, who plays Angela. We’ve become best friends. I would have never thought that at 30 years old I would find this kind of friendship. We’ll work all day together, and I’ll walk in the door talking to her on my cell phone, and my husband is like, “Are you serious? You just saw her!”

All About John Krasinski and A Mini Office Spoiler

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

JohnKrasi_Steve_6060339_600.jpgOf all the Office cast, I think I hear more about John Krasinski and his many projects than anyone else. I found an article today over at BuzzSugar.com that listed off all of his upcoming films or appearances. Does this guy ever sleep?
Take a look at some blurbs from this article I found.

John Krasinski’s popularity has ballooned thanks to his role as Jim Halpert on “The Office,” where he plays the everyman with a relaxed, boyish charm. Personally, I never used to think of him as “hot,” but now I can’t help it: His personality is so appealing on the show that he’s become an unlikely sex symbol.
Lucky for me — and countless other ladies, no doubt — our beloved John is going to be pretty much everywhere for the next year. We couldn’t escape him if we tried, but then again, why would we want to?

Before we go on, I have to admit that I find it irritating these days when actors are more talked about in a sex symbol way than a professional way. Granted, I don’t Mr. Krasinski personally, but judging by the things that I know he is involved in, I’m not sure he’d care how sexy everyone thought he was. Anyway, on to his many roles.

Krasinski is lending his voice to Apple commercials, as well as ads for Ask.com.
As of May 18, we’ll also hear John’s sweet voice as Sir Lancelot in the next Shrek movie, Shrek the Third.
Then, he’ll play alongside Mandy Moore and Robin Williams in License to Wed, coming out July 4th.
He plays a straight-laced guy in the little pot-themed indie movie Smiley Face that showed at Sundance, which could be released in select theaters as early as July.
Come holiday season this year, he will star opposite George Clooney in href=”http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379865/”>Leatherheads, which Clooney is also directing. You can already see some sweet photos of the guys on the set. Oh, what a dreamy manfest that’ll be.
Krasinski is also getting into directing: He co-wrote a screenplay based on David Foster Wallace’s
Brief Interviews With Hideous Men, and he will also star, though the release date is still unknown. Is there anything this guy can’t do?!

Some of this we already new due to previous posts here at Watching The Office, but it’s always good to have a review.

Now for a mini-spoiler for the upcoming episode titled, “Women’s Appreciation.”

Outrage breaks out in the office after Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) gets an unexpected eyeful from a flasher. Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) makes some important personal decisions when he takes the women on a special outing. Meanwhile, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Andy (Ed Helms) work on catching the predator.

Should be a good one. Also, during the episode, the special outing with Michael is a trip to Victoria’s Secret. There are some tense moments between Karen and Pam and Pam proves she’s quite resourceful at changing a tire. Once I get my hand on some photos or preview clips, I’ll send them your way.

New Photos from New Office Episode “Product Recall” and Other Office News

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Here are some new pics for the new episode. If you’ll remember from an earlier spoiler post, “Product Recall” is about…

The office is in crisis mode after a large shipment of Dunder-Mifflin paper is accidentally sent out with an obscene watermark. Michael tries to manage the media with an impromptu press conference. Jim and Andy try to calm the high school principal who has sent out prom invites on the affected stationery.

Enjoy.

Are you interested in Rainn’s many beards or his Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonations? See Rainn on Leno here.

Need more Angela? She was on Letterman this past Friday, go here for that video. And since that clip wasn’t nearly long enough, here’s another.

We also have, for your viewing pleasure, some deleted scenes from last week’s episode “Safety Training”
Here’s the first one with Andy and Kevin.
The next one has Michael thinking seriously about safety and for whatever reason, talking like Borat.

Don’t forget that this week’s episode is a rerun of “Back from Vacation” and the new episode, “Product Recall,” will air on the 26th.

Wednesday’s Poll Results

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Well it looks like our most cringe-worthy couple is Michael and Jan. I have to say that I agree with you guys on this one. Dwight and Angela have a weird thing going on, but nothing freaky. Ryan and Kelly are mostly annoying and puzzling. Michael and Jan though, have some freaky things going on there and I’d have to say that I think most of it comes from Jan. She michael_jan_kissing_the_office_04.jpgseems so emotionally messed up at times and mix that in with Michael and his personality and you get one cringe-worthy couple.
Here are a few comments from voters:

WTF wrote: “I like all of these couples. I voted for Ryan & Kelly. Only because Kelly is too overwhelming for Ryan.”

Nicole wrote: “Michael and Jan are an unusual couple. Jan seems so normal and smart, so it floors me that she finds Michael a suitable partner. He is constantly making me cringe from his severe ignorance. I have never been more embarrassed for a tv character in my life. He’s like a car wreck; you just can’t look away. I love this show!”

Don in Virginia wrote: ” Jan is into humiliation, and she is humiliated (and aroused)by Michael’s attentions. To watch a beautiful and successful woman submit to the whiny needs of an immature doofus…by God, that is what good t.v. is all about!”

Sarah Hanley wrote: “Jan is a competent, intelligent (seemingly), beautiful woman who could date just about anybody she wants and she chooses Michael? Michael is obnoxious, racist, clingy and fairly dumb. So my vote goes to them!”

Caitlin wrote: “I voted for ryan and kelly b/c they are the couple that i fear becoming like if i were in a relationship.”

And Arik wrote: “This is a great question. But I’m goint to have to go with Jan and Michael. Dwight and Angela’s relationship is much more creepy than cringe-worthy. Kelly and Ryan are higher on the list, but only because Kelly is so ridiculous. But Michael and Jan are both individually cringe-worthy. Put them together and I think you have the most awkward, embarrasing-to-watch relationship on television.”

These are all wonderful comments and I want to thank you all once again for making a poll fun.

Remember, I’ll be doing polls every Wednesday. If you have a good question for a poll, let me know and we’ll do it.
