Top 10 Best Lines

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Youtube find, whoohoo!:

I’ve yet to come up with my own best lines but I tell you what makes me laugh every time I hear it. It’s this one uttered by Michael in the episode, Grief Counseling:

“Society teaches us that, having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well, that’s baloney, because grief isn’t wrong. There’s such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown.”

That just cracks me up. Every time.

What’s your favorite lines from this show so far?

Video crossover - John Krasinski

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Great [Michael] Scott! This fan video was done very well. It’s John Krasinski in The Office/Without A Trace crossover…

Hmmm…John looking all scruffy with that stubble on his face….nice. ;)

Creed’s Thoughts

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

I didn’t realize Creed had another blog entry the other day. In fact, he had two this week. Not a lot of fan sites noticed too, perhaps? I’ve read people complain its actually not a joy to read through his “thoughts” now, some don’t find it amusing anymore.

I wonder what Creed thinks about that….hmmm.

Also, has anybody actually figured out what Michael’s safe combo is in reference to?

John Krasinski on Conan and other news…

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Hi! How was your weekend? Drat. I missed this one on TV! Good thing there are clips out there.

I did not notice how big John’s ears were when he keeps his hair tucked and tidy like that. :) Like this for example:

John Krasinski
credits to More Than That

I have failed to give the weekend round-up two days ago so let’s do that now…

  • The Office gets a Fox Syndication in 2009
  • The Office Season 3 DVD release details
  • Evan Almighty starring Steve Carell apparently didn’t do well as expected. This article points out the problem.
  • Evan Almighty

Evan Almighty brought in a disappointing 11.3 million on its domestic opening day, proving once again that Universal has a major problem with its marketing and publicity department.

So while 11.3 million is not bad for moderately priced films such as, let’s say, Knocked Up, that movie had an opening Friday of around 8 million, Evan Almighty has a price tag of over $175 million and an expected P&A (prints and advertising) cost of around 50 to 60 million bringing the total cost of the film to around $235 million.
Overall, critics have been mixed on their reviews for the film, The Salt Lake Tribune starts its review with, “Evan Almighty, the bloated and banal sequel to 2003’s Bruce Almighty, has its heart in the right place - but gets everything else wrong.â€?

  • Today is Angela’s birthday
  • . Bring out the party hats…just nothing too flashy. Happy birthday, Angela!

    The Office Branches Out

    Thursday, June 21st, 2007

    First, the online merchandise.

    Bubblehead

NBC Universal Television Distribution has worked with “Office” producer Reveille Prods. on a line of apparel and novelty products sold exclusively at NBC’s online shop nbcuniversalstore.com and Experience storefront in New York.

Three seasons into “The Office’s” Stateside run on the Peacock, the merchandising focus is on what Jeffrey Rotenberg, the Experience Store’s marketing director, terms “connector” products — items imported directly from the workaday world of Dunder Mifflin, the show’s fictional paper company. Fan favorites include the bobblehead figurine of Dwight Schrute that the uberachiever himself (Rainn Wilson) received as a Valentine’s Day gift in season two ($19), and the terry bathrobe that boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell) wore proudly in season three’s holiday episode ($65).

While NBC employs the “connector” approach with other top shows like “Friday Night Lights” and “Heroes,” “The Office” remains its leading merchandising property.

I’m quite surprised and pleased they sell better than the Heroes merchandise which should have been a given or is expected, considering Heroes’ huge fan base.

Second, an Office video game in the works.

In a rare deal to turn a network live-action sitcom into a videogame, casual gamemaker MumboJumbo has licensed rights to “The Office” from NBC Universal.

Peacock net comedy will be the first-ever Hollywood license for the publisher, which makes inexpensive arcade-style games. It plans to turn “The Office” into a humorous game in which players have to handle jobs and play pranks at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch.

Because of its simplicity and low cost, “Office” videogame won’t be available for high-powered consoles like the Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 when it bows in the fall. Instead, MumboJumbo is making it for the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP handheld consoles, as well as the PC. Gamers will be able to download it from a number of Web sites, including, quite likely, NBC.com.

    Wanted: An assistant for Kevin

    Monday, June 18th, 2007

Who’s up for it? It’s a serious request. Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin Malone in The Office, wrote about looking for an assistant in his blog recently.

    Kevin Malone

This is serious. I need an assistant. Not a real assistant. But a personal online MySpace assistant. Here is what the job would be. Look at my page every so often. And when someone asks a question in my comment section that you know the answer to…you message them. So if someone says… How do I get an autograph…? You message them and tell them how. If someone says… when is the dvd coming out? You answer them to the best of your ability.

I am accepting resumes. It is a tough job, and I don’t know exactly what the qualifications would be…so surprise me. I will be hiring by next week.

    Peace,
    Kev

PS- There is no pay involved.

Leave a message on his blog, I guess, if you are interested. Good luck!

    Geekdom is the new cool

    Monday, June 18th, 2007

Interesting article from Chron, with a very, very brief Dwight Schrute mention. It talks about how uncool characters, such as the geeks, have suddenly become pop media’s best characters. Here is an excerpt:

Trekkies and techies have stumbled onto TV and movie screens as central characters and romantic leads. Whip-smart Cristina Yang of Grey’s Anatomy, dweeby Dwight Schrute of The Office and 30 Rock’s bespectacled brainiac Liz Lemon have emerged as breakout prime-time stars

    Video: Dwight Shrute Army

    Friday, June 15th, 2007

Some dude at Youtube uploaded this. It comes with a theme song, to boot (spin-off anyone?).

By the way, spin-off rumors? Apparently, not true. And as reported on TVGuide, Rainn Wilson said that:

“buzz” is “totally made up… a complete farce.”

Dawn & Pam on Studio 60

    Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Who saw Studio 60 the other week, the episode that aired May 31? Well, if you did you may have noticed one teeny, tiny detail — The Office’s Dawn and Pam were both in one show together. Except of course, they were neither playing their respective The Office roles as Dawn and Pam; and neither were they both in one scene.

Fans of the show should be very familiar with who Dawn is. She is the British character the American version, Pam, was patterned from.

And just the thought of them in one show, in that particular night…makes you wanna point towards the TV and say “Dawn and Pam on Studio 60!”, right? No? It was just me doing that then? Okay…

Here’s what I was talking about:

Lucy Davis (Dawn, The Office UK) plays Lucy Kensington, one of the writers of the fictional show, Studio 60
    Lucy Davis @ Studio 60

Jenna Fischer (Pam, The Office USA) played Herself, the guest host for that week
    Jenna Fischer @ Studio 60

I wonder if they ever got together after taping for this episode and compared notes or something.

    About Watching The Office

Watching The Office follows the lives of office workers in the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, as they face day to day business operations under the guidance or actually, misguidance, of their often inappropriate boss, Michael Scott. One of NBC's best comedy shows, The Office is the incarnation of a revolutionary BBC TV comedy bearing the same title. Hailed for its sharp humor and unique concept, The Office has received multiple recognitions from several award giving bodies since its USA premiere in 2005. Watching The Office will cover everything we get our hands on regarding the show, And from time to time, we will also bring the spotlight on its British version. So, pick a desk and settle down. Let's get working…
