Me lovey much John Krasinski

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I haven’t had the pleasure of blogging on John Krasinki too much, haven’t I? I’m not ignoring the guy, I adore JK! But I am making a conscious effort (or at least trying to!) to avoid allowing my school girl crush on John to fully blow.

I am a closet JAM shipper. I’m not totally out because I’m hoping to heed to what Greg Daniels hopes The Office viewers would see — that is, putting more focus on The Office being the show that it is and less on the romance brewing between characters.

The Office: Summer Vacation

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

This promo from NBC is actually so good, I. Cannot. Stop. Laughing!!!

  • Big transformations for Pam and Ryan.
  • Funny quip from Creed, as usual. And Stanley….he’s….still the same! LOL!
  • Love Michael’s inputs on Ytu Mama Tambien and Ratatouille.

Almost everyone is in this clip and they’re all so good at what they do — that is, making people laugh!

I so enjoyed that one. Whew!

The Office Season 3 DVD Reviews

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

The sets will officially be released next week, September 4, but some reviews worth reading are already up! Read up on these reviews:

IGN gives the DVD release high scores

The Office - Season ThreeSimply put - everything here is funny. This is the rare DVD instance where deleted scenes - whether they were cut for a reason or not - are a perfectly worthy, gut-busting inclusion. The show must be rich in unaired, unseen, improvised and scripted material and what’s here - from the tiny featurettes to bloopers to the deleted scenes themselves - showcase the cast both in and out of character doing what they do best: making the audience laugh.

UnderGroundOnline believes that with the release of Season 3’s DVD, the show is deserving to go to the next level:

With Season Four on the not-too-distant horizon, it almost seems like The Office is ready for a promotion now that fans have even more to sink their teeth into with Season 3 on DVD.

And finally, The Office Tally, provides a couple of menu screenshots and details of the commentary and extras (with minor spoilers)

Clearly, the boxset is packed with goodies. Have you pre-ordered your copy yet?

Steve Carell, Role Model

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

The teens have spoken! And they have bestowed upon Steve Carell the award for Best TV Actor - Comedy in the recently concluded Teen Choice Awards. He bested fellow nominees Adrian Grenier (Entourage), Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men), David Spade (Rules of Engagement), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother).

The Office was also nominated for Best TV Series, but teens preferred Hanna Montana to win it.

It’s amazing how much of an impact Steve (as well as the show) imparts to the kids. As a parent himself, he surely realizes how big the responsibility it is to be a teen role model.

Speaking of role models, here’s another thing noteworthy of Steve — he takes part in a campaign sponsored by Sky TV and did this amusing commercial:

Many thanks to the diligent people of The Office LJ Community for finding and posting this clip!

The Office News Round Up Aug 27

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Another week starts. What do we have here?

  • Blooper reels! Watch some blooper reels from The Office’s latest DVD on this site . Or better yet, get your own copy, out in stores, September 4. I hear there’s a clip of John Krasinski here, with him dancing in his boxer briefs. Whoot-hoot!
  • The latest on Ed Helms: Have a look at this interview conducted by IGN TV. (Be warned of some spoiler photos, by the way) Here’s an excerpt to that interview:

IGN TV: So where did Andy Bernard come from? Did you bring him from somewhere in your past work experiences?
Helms: I think that Andy is just an amalgam of people that have annoyed me over the years. I’ve tried to do a sort of armchair psychoanalysis of those people and then take that analysis and insert them into Andy. It’s incredibly fun to play someone that you don’t like. It exorcises your own demons in a way. It’s cathartic. We all have things that we don’t like about ourselves, little things. And I get to amplify those things and put them out there. It’s fun and it has a cleansing effect
    .

  • And finally, we’re getting closer and closer to the premiere. We’ve got 29 days left, in fact. Are you excited? I am! And for some reason, I felt a wave of enthusiasm wash over me when I saw this preview of The Office from NBC, even as it did not have anything new to show yet:

The Dunder Mifflin Newsletter Issue #1

    Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Earlier, we’ve announced the launch of the official Dunder Mifflin Website and quite obviously, it’s a marketing tool for the series, just one of the clever ways by which NBC is selling The Office to the online public (where the show has a huge following!).

This week, the first newsletter generated by that website is officially out. If you have signed up for it via Dunder Mifflin’s site, you should have already gotten this in your email. If you haven’t, you can still view the contents of the newsletter here. There are a combined four articles written by Michael Gary Scott and Dwight Schrute. Go read it, it’s hilarious.

Especially notable to me is this one, from Dwight:

I am particularly enjoying this, marketing gimmick or what-not. It just makes the characters feel so much more accessible, as if I’m also part of it.

    Good job, Michael and Dwight!

The Office Fun Run Episode Photo Promos

    Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Just Jared has posted tons of photos from The Office Fun Run Episode. Along with it are some spoilers… so if you don’t like to read those kinds of stuff, steer clear. I have, however, taken just one photo from the batch. It is something that I particularly like, because it just says so much:

    The Dwangelas are fighting!

There are also other promo photos at this site.

Incidentally, it’s 36 days before the season premiere, yay!

    Variety Mag’s Emmy Nominee Analysis

    Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

The Emmy Awards is drawing nearer and nearer. I can’t say I’m generally excited for the outcome this year since some of my preferred TV series, specifically those that I thought would at least get a nomination recognition like Brothers & Sisters or Lost, failed to earn the favor of the voting panel. (Boo!!)

Although, one category the Emmy’s got at least 90% correct is Comedy. This year would have to be a pretty tight race, especially in the individual awards (Actor and Supporting Actor - Comedy).

The Office News Round Up Aug 20

    Monday, August 20th, 2007

Hello, guys! I hope your weekend was superb. Let’s start this week right with me offering you a bunch of The Office related news and links worth checking out.

  • The new Willie Wisely music video is out and Jenna Fischer appears in it. The album will be released in October 2.
  • Read and watch the Top 10 Scenes from The Office courtesy of TopSocialite.
  • Here’s a short piece from USA Today, a first look at The Rocker, Rainn Wilson’s latest movie.
  • Judd Apatow’s Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story trailer is also up. The movie, which will be seen in theaters on December 21st, stars John C. Reilly and Jenna Fischer.
  • It’s still a year away but I’m already eager to see the animated film Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! starring Jim Carrey and Steve Carell. The trailer can be seen here.
  • Oscar Nunez did a recent interview on IGN TV
  • IGN TV: What do you think attracts people like that to the show?
Nunez: It’s a good show. Quality attracts quality. People want to be on a good show. Ricky Gervais is a genius. If you watch the original Office and Extras — arguably that’s the funniest thing on television right now, is Extras — Extras is so brilliant, and he wrote that. He writes that dialogue that’s so very good. It’s very good comedy

  • An article on the evolution of improv on TV and the movies mentions Steve Carell and The Office.
  • Creed Thoughts, August 14th

There’re only six things you need if you want to snag a good woman: A guitar, chicken, wine, a car, running water, and some permanent markers. If you don’t have a guitar, a lute will do. You get those six things and you’re Don Juan, trust me

  • The Office video game screenshots are now posted at Gamespot. It is produced by Mumbo Jumbo and has a target released date sometime September. It will be made available for PC, PSP and Nintendo DS.
  • Enjoy the week ahead!

    Celebrations!

    Thursday, August 16th, 2007

    Today we’re celebrating:

  • Steve Carell’s birthday! He is 45. [16 August 1962].
  • the launch of the official Dunder-Mifflin website. Check under “job openings”, they’re looking for more people to join them. Ha-ha! Clicking on “contact us” will allow them to send you newsletters. And one intriguing link is the “intranet” which supposedly “comes in September”. Hmmmm. The domain is officially registered to NBC, by the way.
  • the fact that it’s 42 days before the season premiere!

    Dan in Real Life

    Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

The latest trailer from Steve Carell’s new movie which is coming out in October:

I don’t expect this to be a box-office hit although I hope it does well. This is the kind of material I think Steve can do very well as an actor — light comedy with a hint of drama.

    TV Stars watching The Office

    Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Masi Oka, who currently enjoys TV Star status thanks to the show Heroes, once said in an interview that he’s a big The Office fan.

What’s it like going toe-to-toe with crazy Steve Carell?
Oka: My big triumph was making him crack up during his close-ups. I figure if I can make Carell laugh with my improvs, I’ve made it! I’m a big geek for The Office. I also work with Jenna Fischer in another new movie, Quebec. I play a real-estate agent and I get to cuss, which I can’t do on Heroes. When Hiro stabbed Sylar in the season finale he said, “Yatta!” but my secret subtext was, “Yatta, you motherf–ker!” I couldn’t say it, but I played it!

Oka is starring in Get Smart, a new movie opposite Steve Carell.

30 Rock creator and star, Tina Fey, also professes her love for The Office in this very recent TV Guide interview:

    Who makes you laugh?
Fey: I really like The Office — I think everyone on that show is brilliant. The Larry Sanders Show [is] the funniest show… ever. All my friends on SNL. Arrested Development made me laugh.

Well, we hope 30 Rock goes the route of The Office and not Arrested Development.
Fey: [Laughs] I know. It’s hard to say because some days I think, “Well, if we go the route of Arrested Development I can raise my kid because I won’t be at work so much.” But it would be nice to be The Office, too — it remains to be seen.

Do you know of any other TV star who has also expressed their fondness for The Office? Talk back!

    About Watching The Office

Watching The Office follows the lives of office workers in the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, as they face day to day business operations under the guidance or actually, misguidance, of their often inappropriate boss, Michael Scott. One of NBC's best comedy shows, The Office is the incarnation of a revolutionary BBC TV comedy bearing the same title. Hailed for its sharp humor and unique concept, The Office has received multiple recognitions from several award giving bodies since its USA premiere in 2005. Watching The Office will cover everything we get our hands on regarding the show, And from time to time, we will also bring the spotlight on its British version. So, pick a desk and settle down. Let's get working…
