If you’re a fan of the show, you essentially know what the phrase means. But if this is your first time getting acquainted with the show, here’s an explanation to why that phrase is relevant and why it makes this show even funnier.

It’ll leave you begging for more because you’ll want to experience it over and over again. When it’s finally over you’ll want cuddle with it until you fall asleep. In the morning, you’ll wake up early and make it pancakes.

Best Moments from The Office Season 4

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

These are random favorite scenes from The Office Season 4. Do you and I have the same favorites?

  • Andy singing Take A Chance on Me to Angela during the Launch Party -  On top of his very good voice, his move to try to win over Angela by having his buddies sing a capella with him over the phone — who can resist that? The moment was corny alright, but yet there was something heartfelt about the way he orchestrated it. What can I say, I’m a sucker for serenades.
  • jimanddwight.jpgA brokenhearted Dwight gets consoled by Jim - Angela and Dwight break up and he isn’t taking it too well. He releases his pain by crying at the stairwell of the building. Seeing Dwight cry like that? Broke my heart, too. And the gesture by Jim to try and console him? That was a really touching scene between these two, a different side to what we usually see with the two of them pulling pranks at each other.
  • jim_knee.jpgJim’s fake proposal -  I really thought he was gonna do it at the pavement. Pam’s reaction was also realistic.Toby’s accidental slip -  Such an awkward scene for everyone involved. I understand why Toby had to jump over the fence because of it.
  • Screensaver bouncing off TV - Perhaps considered one of the best episode opener of The Office. The whole staff is gathered at the conference room where Michael is addressing them and it seems like they are listening intently to him. They really aren’t; but are rather focused on the little DVD square screen saver. It’s a pretty hilarious moment. Watch.
  • Whoever/Whomever debate - Best performance by an ensemble.
  • The Dunder Mifflin Scranton Ad - Sure Michael’s idea for the ad was over the top. But I actually liked theirs better than the actual ad the company ran.
  • The confrontation between Michael and Stanley - Michael did fold and come out looking like a sissy when he was asking Stanley why he’s always the way he is at him. But for what it’s worth, Michael handled this somewhat maturely.
  • Dinner Party - The worst dinner party ever is one of The Office’s better episodes. Jan dancing to That One Night, Michael’s flat screen TV and bed space, Jim’s attempt to ditch the party, Dwight and his guest…everything was just wrong it was funny!
  • Michael’s testimonial at the Deposition: And realizing where he’s at in Jan’s life. More than anything, to me it showed Steve Carell’s depth and capabilities as an actor.
  • Holly thinking Kevin was mentally challenged: She pulled it off and handled him well. For his part, Kevin was just being himself; which makes this comedy gold because they didn’t have to have funny dialogs to make it funny.

The Office Round Up May 26th

Monday, May 26th, 2008

images.jpgThe Office is set to return on September 25 for its fifth season with a one hour premiere. That’s a four month wait.

Will we have Holly (Amy Ryan) back? This TV Guide columnist does not think so: Last time I checked this week, there was no news yet about her returning to the show. But it’s hard to imagine she won’t appear at least once more — unless Holly was so put off by Michael’s arousal and later rejection that her absence is explained later in exposition. I hope we get to see her again — but yeah, don’t count on her for the spin-off. But like most of us, we do love to see her on the show again.

Ryan, though, will still be back in Season 5 per his interview with Washington’s The Daily: You will definitely see Ryan next year on The Office. I tried to keep the ending of the episode a surprise from everyone—even my family—and I did the same thing with Ryan’s promotion at the end of the last season.

Elsewhere…

stanley the office.jpgWhat’s the one show Leslie David Baker (Stanly) hasn’t seen but should have? It’s the British version of this show, The Office! Leslie is also a fan of Grey’s Anatomy and says it is well-written. He is probably joking, isn’t he? The show is on the same time as The Office.

What is John Krasinski doing this summer? Shooting Farlanders, his movie with Maya Rudolph.

Last Comic Standing had it’s latest season premiere last Thursday 8:30c/9:30. Watch for Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nuñez, Leslie David Baker, Kate Flannery, and Brian Baumgartner to make their appearances in the succeeding episodes as judges or talent scouts in the contest. Angela and Oscar I think are on this week.

Summer Movies with The Office Cast

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Catch Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson and Jenna Fischer on the big screen this summer….

GET SMART

get_smart_poster.jpgGet Smart is the film adaptation from the 1960’s hit television series. Steve Carell is Maxwell Smart, the secret agent who is ironically not quite smart. He is, however quite agile in hand to hand combat.

The movie also stars Anne Hathaway, Alan Arkin and Masi Oka, with some special cameo appearances of actors from the original TV series. The film is directed by Peter Segal.

Get Smart comes to theaters June 19.

Here’s the trailer.

THE ROCKER

the_rocker_poster.jpgThis is perhaps Rainn Wilson’s first film where he’s actually going to carry the whole movie as its lead. The film is about an unknown former 80’s rock band member who once again tries to break into the music scene years later with his nephew’s group.

The movie also has Christina Applegate and Josh Grad and will open in the 1st of August.

Here’s the trailer.

the_promotion.jpg

THE PROMOTION

Originally titled as Quebec, the film is set for a June 6 playdate. Directed by Steve Conrad, who is also the writer for Pursuit of Happyness, the film is about two grocery store assistant managers who are up and against each other for promotion.

It stars Sean William Scott and John C. Reilly, who Jenna has previously worked with in the film, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

Here’s the trailer.

There you have it…

The Office may be out for a few months but the cast are still very much visible. It’s refreshing to see our favorite actors play different roles once in a while and showcase their range. These movies should serve as a welcome break while Season 5 is still under production.

The Office: SpinOff and Amy Ryan News

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

The show is done but the news keep coming. I’m keeping tabs of what Season 5 is going to bring and of course, I’d be on the lookout for any updates about the upcoming spin-off. I know we’re going to hear a lot of these over the summer. In fact, it begins now…

Via E!

Any word on The Office spinoff?

I still can’t shake this feeling that it could be Jim and Pam in the big city…Bonkers, right? But she’s going to art school, and if Ryan does happen to return and hear that message Jim left, he could be packing up his desk. Argh! But I’m sure that’s a ludicrous idea, ’cause the OG Office needs them. I know the initial plan was to bring in a new person (i.e. Rashida amy_ryan.jpgJones) to Dunder Mifflin Scranton and then spin off that person, but because of the strike it didn’t pan out. I’m also told by a source, “The rumors that it’s definitely Dwight or it’s definitely Andy are false. But it is someone who will be taking a big risk.”

How cute were Michael Scott and Holly Flax (Amy Ryan). I mean, come on. Finally, someone who gets Michael’s jokes. Is Amy going to be back for more episodes next season?

It was love at first Yoda impersonation! For me, anyway. Plus, Holly and “Special K” Kevin were freaking priceless! I checked on this for you, and the official word from the NBC rep and Amy’s rep is that nothing’s been decided for sure about her status next season…Still, an inside source who works on the show tells me, “Oh yeah, we have to see her again next season. She’ll be there for sure.” Awesome, yes? (P.S. I luuuhhhved that finale, despite the Jam letdown. You?!)

Quotes from The Office Goodbye Toby

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

toby_at_his_desk.gif

Dwight: So what do we know about her.
Michael: Well we know that Toby thinks she’ll be great. So strike one, I hate her already.
Dwight: I hate her too.
Michael: Why do you hate her?
Dwight: Because she stinks. With her… ways. And her head.
Michael: You know Dwight sometimes, I dunno… I think you say things just to agree with me.
Dwight: Would that be such a bad thing?
Michael: Yeah, it would! Just have a thought! Have an original thought….. Although I will agree that her head is weird.Michael: Thanks to Toby I have a very strong prejudice against Human Resources. I believe that the department is a breeding ground for monsters. What I failed to consider though, is that not all monsters are bad. Like ET. Is Holly our extra-terrestrial? Maybe. Or maybe she’s just an awesome woman from this planet.

Holly: Man someone doesn’t like HR.
Michael: Yeah.
Holly: (asking Toby?) What did you do to him?
Toby: Nothing.
Michael: No he tortured me. With his awfulness.
Holly: Yeah I know what you mean. I nearly feel asleep when he gave me a tour of the files….Well, look I’ll let you get back to work but I really look forward to working with you Mr. Scott.
Michael: Yyyou can c-call me Michael.

The Office Round Up May 18th

Monday, May 19th, 2008

My week is going to start really rough, I’ve got tons to do. I’d get to them though once I’ve made my round-ups. So, here I go…

  • STEVE ON SNL: I have yet to watch Steve Carell’s season finale appearance on Saturday Night Live, but I’m told that it was really hilarious. The clips have been posted on NBC which I will eventually watch later after working. If you too haven’t seen it, here they are:

Clip 2 - Japanese The Office
    Clip 3 - CPR Class
Clip 4 - Deal or No Deal
    Clip 5 - Commencement Open
Clip 6 - Bless This Child

  • STEVE on PLAYBOY: The Watcher has made an analysis of the Job Fair episode (called it the worst ever), as well as provide excerpts from Steve Carell’s Playboy Interview.
  • Deleted scenes for “Goodbye, Toby” are also on the NBC sit: Scene 1 | Scene 2
  • I think a lot of people have been looking for the video of Ryan’s arrest on Youtube. Watch as the Wonderboy falls:
  • I’m also sure you’ve been following Paul Leiberstein’s Office Finale blog (Toby). But in case you’ve missed it, it’s still there and you can chime into the comments section if you want. The site is still very much active. Just to be clear though, Paul isn’t leaving the show for the spin-off. He will still be writing for Season 5.
  • Read Melora’s TV Guide interview.
  • If you recall in last week’s round-up I picked up the news about John McKain wanting Dwight Schrute to be his Vice President. Watch Dwight’s bid, when he recently guested on Leno. And also, check out Rainn Wilson’s picture as a little kid. They’re using it for the promo of his upcoming film, The Rocker.
  • Variety Reports: U.S. ‘Office’ winning over Brits, Home of original embracing adaptation.

The Office Season 4 Finale Goodbye, Toby

    Friday, May 16th, 2008

    holly_new_hr_the_office.gif

The new HR? Holly? Love her. I know a lot of the viewers feel the same way. She was the best thing in that episode. If she’s going to stay awhile longer, I expect we’ll soon discover her quirks and I think we might have a little preview of it. Remember her trying to fix the chair? Doing the Yoda voice? How wonderful is she?

How wonderful was she with Kevin? Their running gag was one of the funniest. And what’s interesting is that the writers didn’t have to write a lot of jokes around it, their story is the joke. Holly thinking he’s mentally challenged and Kevin behaving his usual self — it just worked.

toby_and_pam.gifFor someone’s going away party, this sure was actually a pretty boring one… for the person leaving, that is. Did you notice how the party had little to do with Toby? I guess the highlight of his day was this picture taking session with Pam, or the fact that he had to run and find a camera just to have this moment. Ah, Toby…till the very end, he acted like a wimp. Are we going to miss him even if his replacement is such a wonderful person? You betcha.

    jan_is_pregnant.gif

Michael, who probably woke up that day feeling like Christmas since Toby is leaving, got the surprise of his life when he learned his ex-girlfriend is pregnant. When Jan said that the baby wasn’t his, my first thought was Hunter, her former assistant. I laughed out loud when Michael said, “I specifically told you not to cheat on me!” It was pathetic, but funny. Jan did not, in the conventional sense, cheat on him anyway. But going to a sperm donor while she was still with Michael? How sad is that for him? Especially when he claims to love the new HR he’s only known for a few hours. I wonder if the writers did try to go in that direction, would Michael really be happy with Holly?

    ryan_the_office_arrest.gif

Ryan being out of a job was not a surprise to me. It was quite obvious who was going to get fired, as spoilers have initially reported. But I did not see him being sent to jail coming. Oscar explained it best when he said Ryan’s management of sales and the Dunder Mifflin Infinity project was fraudulent. Although, I disagree with the beard. I kinda liked Ryan with the beard. It made his character a lot more douche-y.

The weakest story to me was Jim and Pam’s. It could be because they’re so happy and content, we know there’s something stable and certain about their relationship. Pam even said she was excited about going away to New York for a couple of months to pursue her art because she knows when she gets back, Jim is still going to be there. I don’t wonder about when Jim is going to propose anymore. I now wonder — when will this two encounter a real test to their relationship, and how will they survive it?

And really, Jim — fireworks? That was your idea of a proposal that “would blow you away”? If that did happen, I would have been disappointed because it won’t feel extra special. Fortunately, someone else stole their thunder and Jim can propose in a more original way to Pam in Season 5.

Andy’s proposal to Angela? Did not see that coming. And the writers leave us with the best cliffhanger of all, with the office prudes and watchdogs doing something kinky:

    angela_dwight_naked

I can’t wait to find out what’s gonna happen to this two and to Andy, Angela’s husband-to-be. Will this be the reason why Andy is going to star in the spin-off? To forget how Angela has broken his heart?

So much going on in this finale and so many things unanswered. I hardly saw Stanley, too…did you?

    Recap delay….

paul.jpgThe official description of tonight’s episode — Goodbye, Toby from NBC: IT’S TIME TO SAY GOODBYE - SPECIAL ONE HOUR SEASON FINALE - OSCAR NOMINEE AMY RYAN (”Gone Baby Gone”) GUEST STARS - It’s Toby’s (Paul Lieberstein) goodbye party at Dunder Mifflin and Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) demands a huge celebration that matches the joy in his heart. Novak, Melora Hardin, Ed Helms, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Mindy Kaling, Creed Bratton, and Craig Robinson also star.
