“That’s What She Said!” Moments in The Office

by LiRa

“That’s what she said! is a phrase with a double meaning. It’s similar to a pun, but is usually used to turn a non-sexual statement into a sexual one….such as these moments from The Office:

Jim Halpert:
Does that include ‘that’s what she said’?
Michael Scott: Mmhh, yes.
Jim Halpert: Wow that is really hard. You really think you can go all day long? Well, you always left me satisfied and smiling.
Michael Scott: Mmmm… THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID!

Season 2 Episode 10 - Christmas Party
Michael Scott:
Did it work?
Kevin Malone: Well, sorta. Why did you get it so big? (After cutting Christmas tree)
Michael Scott: a) That’s what she said and b) I wanted it to be impressive. Biggest day of the year deserves the biggest tree of the year.
Kevin Malone: But what are we gonna do with this hacked-off part?
Michael Scott: Well that is a perfectly good mini-tree Kevin and we are going to sell that to charity. That’s what Christmas is all about.

Season 2 Episode 12 - The Injury
Doctor:
Does the skin look red and swollen?
Dwight Schrute: That’s what she said.
Michael Scott: That’s my joke, damn it Dwight!

Season 2, Episode 17 - Dwight’s Speech
Dwight walks by with grapes over his mouth, dangling…

Michael Scott: That’s what she said!
Dwight Shrute: I don’t get it…
Michael Scott: Grapes…seductive…

Season 3 Episode 4 - Money
Michael Scott: And the best way to start is to hit… Start. And up comes the toolbar. That’s what she said.

Season 3 Episode 17 - Cocktails
Jan Levinson:
Why is this so hard?….. That’s what she said. Oh my God, what am I saying?!

Season 3 Episode 20 - Product Recall
Jim Halpert:
Yeah, I’m definitely going to go alone.
Michael Scott: No, no, I need two men on this– That’s what she said — No time!– But she did– No time!

Season 4 Episode 7 - Survivor Man
Michael Scott:
Just wait. 10 years, you’ll figure it out.
Jim Halpert: Well, I don’t think I’ll be here in 10 years, but…
Michael Scott: That’s what I said. (pause) That’s what she said.
Jim Halpert: That’s what who said?
Michael Scott: I never know. I just say it. I say stuff like that, you know, to lighten the tension, when things sort of get hard —
Jim Halpert: That’s what she said.
Michael Scott: Hey! Nice! Really good…..Bravo. My young ‘ward

Season 4 Episode 8 - The Deposition
Jan’s lawyer: How long have you known Ms. Levinson?
Michael Scott: Six years and two months.
Jan’s lawyer: And you were directly under her the entire time?
Michael Scott: That’s what she said.
Jan’s lawyer: Excuse me?
Michael Scott: (softly) That’s what she said.

Hey did you see the new “Office” game? It’s fun for about five minutes, but is fun to play for fans. (http://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/2429/the-office/index.html?afcode=af2dfb6ab328&src=bfg12y09engstoff&gclid=CIm9vpz7nZACFUtyOAodCUMX7Q)

I like how they incorporated the office sayings, and had Pam do pranks, but the tasks to get from level to level were super boring. Still, it was nice to hear Dwight talk about SCHRUTE BUCKS again!

Yup, I got the chance to try the game out. It’s fun and addictive. :D
