The Office Cast: Before They Were In The Office

by LiRa

I did a little video digging today. I was looking into other projects, specifically TV productions, where some of the The Office Cast got into before The Office. I basically wanted to check out other shows with these familiar actors since I’m planning to rent the video or borrow from well-meaning friends with lots of resources, or wait for the official DVD release. My purpose: to fill the void for 9 PM Thursday nights and stack up for the holiday break.

With IMDb and Youtube as my guide and resource I was well on the way to making some good choices….

I’m not a devoted crime series fan. I normally surf through this on television. But I do like a dose of it now and then. And on this long break, I plan on taking a couple of these shows with John Krasinski appearing as guest:

  • Law & Order: Criminal Intent - Season 3 Episode 11
  • Without a Trace - Season 3 Episode 20
  • CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Season 5 Episode 11 - I found a clip of this guest appearance on Youtube. Here, John played Lyle Dickson, a role that wasn’t exactly significant to the story. But since the show was like a homage to Sherlock Holmes, I think I might just enjoy it.

In 2003, Rainn Wilson had a huge, huge guest role on the series, Six Feet Under. I used to be an avid watcher of this on HBO, but quit on it after Season 2…it just got depressing. Rainn appeared in Season 3 and 4, playing an eccentric mortician who had an affair with the Fisher matriarch, Ruth. So, I’ve never seen his episodes, which I learned was about a dozen appearances. This break might be a good a time as any to catch up on Six Feet Under. Here’s one of Rainn’s more pivotal scene in the series.

Jenna Fischer also appeared on Six Feet Under. She had a small role on this series during the 5th season. But I also learned that she appeared in one episode of That 70’s Show Season 5, so maybe I’m gonna rent this one, for variety (one crime drama, another a dark series, and this is the comic releif). In That 70’s, Jenna played a snooty wedding store owner, which should be refreshing to watch:

There, I think I’ve started quite well with my stacking up. Have you got any more suggestions?
