The Office: “The Merger,” ‘Scramford’ is born!

by Staff Writer

The creation of “Scramford? has begun, and by the looks of it it’s going to get ugly.

The two offices from The Office merged last night. My prayers were answered when I found out that Ed Helms was still on the show (but we’ll get to that in a moment).

Did you notice how many times Michael was able to offend the new people before they sat down? To Karen: “You’re very exotic looking, was your Dad a G.I.? Also, a new African American man came in, his name was Martin Nash. When Michael said “I’ll show you where the slaves work,? I about lost it.

Jim and Pam are reunited. I’m going to come right out and say it, Pam deserves it. Whatever happens to her, if she never gets with Jim she deserves it. What kind of girl rejects someone, says she’s going to marry another guy, only to break up with that other guy a couple weeks later? Jim seems to have his eye on Karen, and we all know from last episode Karen is “into Jim.? Jim and Pam will never end up together, that’s my take on it. Like I’ve said before they’re just too awkward around each other.

Now for the highlight of the episode, Andy meeting Dwight was everything I could’ve hoped it would be…and more. Both of them clashed at the first minute they met each other, on the other hand Michael loves Andy, we could all see that coming a mile away. Dwight and Andy battled it out to see who could be the biggest suck-up. I loved that Michael called Dwight a suck-up but loved anything Andy did. Andy hitting on Angela and using a cat screen saver to do it was priceless.

After Jim is named number two, Dwight and Andy are now forced to battle it out for Michael’s number three. I’m betting, even though there’s no such thing, Andy gets number three and Dwight is going to end up going insane.

One man from Stamford, Tony, couldn’t take it after Michael and Dwight tried to lift him up onto a table. I guess that would make anyone pretty mad. Especially if that person weighed probably a good three hundred (maybe more) pounds like Tony seemed to.

Also, where did that whole breast pump come from that was totally out of nowhere. Creed taking a picture of it and putting it on his computer was great though, “Right place at the right time.? I sure hope that some where here in the near future we get a Creed-centric episode, he really does deserve some more lines.

The battle of coughing insults at the end by Dwight and Andy was classic. These two guys are 11 year olds stuck in grown-up bodies.

“It means Earth in Latin.?
“You drive an XEarth that doesn’t make sense.?

I was very pleased with last night’s episode. This one will be filed in the classic episodes, when Dwight and Andy met. I’m looking forward to those two fighting it out for number three, and I can only hope that involves winning Angela’s heart.

Quote of the episode:
“I’m always thinking one step ahead, like a carpenter…building stairs.”
–Andy

I have to say, Michael Scott still rocks my socks.

I aired my views on the state of Season 3 on my blog last night and you were great enough to join the discussion. Just wanted to let you know I posted a response to your comment.

Okay, you pulled it out of me. Gem moments from last night included the buffet for newcomers only (think of it as poisoned beef), the goody bags (mine just has a bunch of pencils and coupons), and Andy’s strategy to become #2 man (mirroring). It’s not all bad.

You’re totally right. They have to keep Jim and Pam apart in order to have the tension in the show. I predict that they will get together on the Series Finale (hopefully, that is a long way off). I can’t wait to see Andy and Dwight interact with each other and with Jim, the new second in command.

  5. Michael Says:

I heard that My3Things.com listed the secrets of Scramford

  6. Tab Says:

    I agree, that was a great episode…

how about that intro video… “Lazy Scranton”?!?! Painful to watch!!!

Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with Jim’s interaction with Pam… I dunno why really, I guess it just didn’t seem like he could read her as well as he used to be able to… sure, they’ve been apart for a while, but c’mon, they haven’t changed that much. Ahh well… I foresee Dwight defeating/destroying Andy. He should. He needs to. He is a much better character than Andy.

Definitely love the series. I was worried it wouldn’t be able to match the British version, but it has! I just hope the American version can end like the British one did. That was an amazing series finale…

  8. Andrew Says:

I really enjoy Wayne Wilderson’s character (Martin Nash). He looks like he’s got potential.

  9. Dissappointed Says:

After the ridiculous promotion of a stupid shredder from Staples, this show has jumped the shark.

Gervais must be regretting the decision to allow such unoriginal American hacks touch a classic (his much fatter bank account notwithstanding).

“What kind of girl rejects someone, says she’s going to marry another guy, only to break up with that other guy a couple weeks later?”

The kind of girl who is caught off guard by another man’s affection, then realized that they guy she’s with is totally wrong for her.
